Texas resident Reid Hackney is a retired retail executive who oversaw financial functions for a major retail store in San Antonio. Reid Hackney holds a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and continues to support the school’s football team.
Penn State coaches are scouting in Europe to find talented athletes in untapped football markets. Penn State, regarded as a leader in national recruits, is highly active in domestic regions and is hoping to accomplish something similar in Germany. The football team has already secured its first commitment as a result of the scouting trip.
Defensive lineman Joseph Darkwa announced on February 1 that he will be joining Penn State for the 2019 season. The German also had scholarship offers from colleges in Indiana, Georgia, and Colorado, among others.
Although Europe doesn’t have the wealth of football resources – coaching, competition, and facilities – as the United States, the continent still has plenty of talented athletes. Penn State is ahead in this regard, thanks to its defensive line coach Sean Spencer. Spencer used to coach football player Brandon Collier, who now helps European football players find opportunities to develop in the US college ranks.
