With recruiting for the 2018 college football season underway, Penn State’s incoming class suffered a drastic blow in February, as Micah Parsons recanted his commitment to the school. Parsons, a five-star defensive end and Penn State’s top 2018 recruit, noted in a Twitter post that he had “committed too soon” to the school and, although it remains high on his list, he plans on taking the upcoming season to focus on his final year of high school football.

According to 247 Sports, Parsons is the third best recruit in the country for the upcoming season. In addition to Penn State, Parsons has 19 scholarship offers from prominent football programs, including Ohio State, Alabama, and Clemson. Despite his decision, Penn State’s 12-member recruiting class for 2018 remains one of the best in the nation per 247 Sports’ report.
